I met Whitney when I went to Nikki's to get a pedicure - I will never go to anyone else again! Whitney is such a lovely, kind and delightful young woman. I love seeing her. I enjoy our conversations. She is a bright light!

Keith is my hero because he’s shown me what it means to be hardworking and love what you do. I hope to by just as great as him one day.

Hossein was my science teacher junior and senior year and he was just really amazing and was so understanding and kind and cared so much for his students and science and the world. He is such an inspiration and I still keep in touch with him!

My cat Oreo is my emotional support animal;she always comforts me when I’m upset. She helped me a lot when I first moved in to college and was trying to adjust and make new friends.

Kateri genuinely demonstrated a caring attitude toward her students, serving as a role model. I applaud her awareness of diversity and inclusion.

My mother [Surekha] has always been my support system .

In day to day life [Sangita] has been my support system who has stood for me in every ups and downs. Let it be any situation she is the one who worked as a backbone for me and thaught me to fight against every barrier I face.

Faelyn is one of my dearest friends from high school. They are also one of the strongest people I know. I always find so much comfort when we talk, and I love that we can vent to one another about things that aren’t always so nice, but because we have are so comfortable with each other, we can talk and then joke and laugh about it too. From the beginning of our friendship, Faelyn always was such an incredible person in my eyes. The things they have been through in their life and the fact that they have survived and continued despite all of it will always be such an inspiration to me. I just love them so much.

My father is my hero because he served in the army and has inspired me to follow in his footsteps. He’s an incredibly hard worker who has always provided for his family and is now using his strength to battle stage four cancer. He is the strongest person that I know and I couldn’t ask for a better role model.

My hero is my mom. She’s the most caring and selfless person I know, always putting others before herself and showing me what it means to be a good person. No matter how hard things get, she stays patient, kind, and full of love. My mom inspires me every day to work hard, stay kind, and never give up. To me, she’s the definition of a hero.

[Pranathi] I learned the true meaning of love. She made me realize what I truly am I am so happy that she is in my life.

Manideep is my boyfriend and my most favorite person in the world. He encourages me to be the best version of myself everyday 😁

Neha is the one who got me into research.Helping out students to learn more, the way of teaching.

Eric has been such a positive influence in my life, he always tells me the hard the truth even when I don’t wanna hear it. No matter goes in his life he shows me that it’s important to stay positive in life.

Liba works constantly at making sure her family is happy and healthy. She is always caring for her students, children and especially her plants. She is a pillar of the many communities she is party of!

This person is my mother. My mom raised me and my brother alone for majority of my life and has supported me all the way to college and still continues to do so. She motivates me to have a growth mindset and continue striving for the best. She never fails to make me feel better when. I don’t do so well on a test. She is a great woman and I am continuously inspired by her everyday.

My mom (Tamika) is my hero because she has always put my best interest in mind, even when it makes her life harder. She consistently does the most for me by working multiple jobs just so that I can do the things I love like come to Binghamton which has allowed me to meet my amazing CSA family. I owe a lot to her and her sacrifices.

My mom is my hero because I see how hard she works to provide for my family. She is always there for me.

John has helped me through a lot and he is one of the greatest friend someone could ask for

My mom is my hero because she goes out of her way every day to care for me and show me that she loves me.

My father is my hero because he inspires me everyday to do my best. He never judges me and has influenced me greatly in almost every aspect of my life. I love science and math because of him and I work hard because of him.

Marisabel is one of my best friends and is such a hard worker. She’s always thoughtful and considerate and will always put others before her. She had a hard time at the beginning of this semester and she pulled through which made me very happy and proud of her. She has been one do the few people who has been by my side and always supporting me. I appreciate all her help and impact in my life.

Liz is not only a friend but someone I can talk to about anything. It's something simple but they are one of the many people I deeply appreciate and make my life a lot better just simply by being in my life.

Elijah helped me with Math 346!

Alex has been my good friend since Freshman Year of college. One time, my tire popped while I was heading up to Binghamton. He immediately took a detour while he was driving up and offered to repair it for me. Another time, this guy has introduced me to so many good restaurants around Binghamton;I’ve had a lot of fun with him. God bless this guy.

Abby is a really great friend and always puts time and effort into our friendship

Riley is the older brother I always wish I had. He’s always there for me when i’m having a bad day, and makes me feel like someone actually cares about me. He’s genuinely such a great person and has nothing but the best intentions.

Matthew has helped me when i was at my lowest.

Deanne Westerman is the best professor on campus for so many reasons- she cares deeply for each of her students success and well being by opening her office hours to students to talk about literally anything they want from course material to songs on their mind. She is so brilliant and devoted to her students it is genuinely inspiring.

Sam is the best roommate

Rafi is always so caring and helpful taking the time out of his day to help everyone! Even when he is so busy he makes sure it all gets done!

(Amélie) She’s my goat

Michal is an amazing working mother who runs her own business. She cooks fresh dinner every night and runs three in person offices and employs at home therapists as well. Shes an amazing woman who truly is my hero.

Irene is my hero because not only I have know her for my whole life, she not only protected me from other people but also have helped through my dark times. I won’t be the person that I am today without her being my side. I love her so much to the point that I can’t live without her.

Young-il Kim is my hero because he wants to help and teach each of his students personally. He will answer your emails at anytime of the day and will give you many opportunities to do well in his class. He will make you feel welcomed in his class and make it very interactive so you are always having fun learning.

Not only does Allison brighten my gloomiest days but she makes my brightest days even brighter.

Ms. Anne was my piano teacher since I was 5 years old. Although I never enjoyed playing the piano, she was very patient with me. After I quit piano, she continued to care for me and became like my second mother. She is someone that has watched me grow up and I am thankful for everything she has done for me.

Mier (my grandma) always sees the bright side of things even when it feel like everything is garbage. She also put a lot of time to take care of me growing up and supporting me.

Richie is my personal hero because of the impact he has on the community! He’s always a friendly presence and gives us a great laugh whenever he’s around! There’s never a dull moment with him and I appreciate all that he does.

Ben is very caring and considerate of everyone. Being able to be thoughtful of others is something that I strive to see in others and he is a direct example of that.

David always brings up the mood of the class and is an excellent teacher. He puts in extra time and effort to make sure students like myself not just learn but truly have a deeper understanding of the concepts!

My grandma Fatma is more than a guiding light; she is the strength that shaped my life and the love that made me who I am today. Because of her, I walk through the world with pride. Facing the unimaginable hardships of the Saddam Hussein regime, she sought asylum in the United States, arriving with nothing but hope and determination. Despite so many obstacles, she built a new life from the ground up, giving selflessly to create a better future for her children and grandchildren. She taught us, by the way she lived, the importance of perseverance, hard work, and education. Her love is a source of endless inspiration. I am proud to be her granddaughter and forever grateful for the strength and guidance she has given us all.

Divina raised me to be the person I am today.

Elaine is my younger sister. She works as an Occupational Therapist at Broome Tioga BOCES and is very active in supporting the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. She is inspiring and resilient! She also is an amazing mom, sister and aunt. She shows, by example, how to care for others and also care for yourself! I often call her my personal Buddha! I want to thank her for all that she is and all that she does!!

This person is a hero to me because they remind me everyday how valuable and precious life is. This is someone who not only teaches you how to be loving kind and patient but also inspires you to be the best version of yourself you can be!

Maria inspires me to always strive for dreams. She believes in me and has always been there for me through thick and thin. She’s my best friend and I wouldn’t be where I am without her. She’s my hero.

My mom [Susie] has always been there for me thick and thin. Always coming to support me at my swim meets from age group to collegiate now and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her!

Coach Fuca is my hero because they have always been my biggest supporter while I have been here at Binghamton. Whenever I feel down they uplift me . They are like a ray of sunshine to my track and field team and I hope that they continue to change peoples lives. Thank you Coach Fuca for all that you do!!

He [Roman] is such a kind soul and always thinks about others.

Rebekka has helped me through the darkest days and has seen me through everything. She knows how to cheer me up when I'm upset and knows when to make me laugh.

My dad is my hero because he gives me band aids when I need them.

Catie Gower helps support our office in many ways. it is behind the scenes mostly, but it keeps things moving, efficiently. It does not go unnoticed and without appreciation . Without her support and assistance it would not be the the same. Thank you Catie for all the things you do !

Zaidie, whenever I spoke to you, you made me feel like I was the only person in the room. Like I was the only person that mattered for those given hours, minutes or even seconds. I felt like you truly valued my opinions. And I felt like you genuinely wanted to be there with me for that moment. And it really made a difference.Thank you for instilling in me a strong moral compass and a love for learning — gifts I carry with me every day. You made an everlasting impact on me and every person you ever met. I love you and I miss you always.You will always continue to be a hero to all of us.

He’s my nephew, he’s been sober 8 months and has inspired me to get involved in AlAnon! Love this child !!

David Biddle - I can always talk to him about advice about grad school. He is such a great resource for the math department!

Aimee McMann was my third grade teacher and instilled in me a lifelong love for learning. I’m a PhD student now and it’s all because of her.

Brian Loy is my hero because he makes sure his students know everything about the law and makes sure his students are always safe.

This person [Godslove] is my hero because she always someone I could count on. And have helped me so much through life.

My dad [Wasim Mohamed] has been in the U.S. Navy for almost 30 years and has been the backbone of my family, recruits, coworkers, friends, and even strangers. Regardless of where we are, my dad is always helping people. When we travel or move abroad, my dad always gives back to the local community - whether it be monetary or kindness. In India, he brought a bunch of toys and gave them to a random tuk tuk driver that has two kids. Since the act in 2023, the driver has sent religious blessings every single day thanking him for his kindness. My dad has dedicated the last three decades of his life ensuring his children get everything we need, including college tuition, rent, food, shelter, and more. There’s no doubt in my mind that my father has shaped the lives of thousands around him, regardless of how small or large the act is.

My mom (Amulya Pingali) is my hero because she serves to help others as a family nurse practitioner. She always treats people with kindness and compassion.

When i first moved to america he [Kyle Baldus] was the only one who provided full transparency and honesty. He was not only a teacher but also a coach and a life mentor. he truly gave me a new outlook on like.

Finnegan wants to nominate Mrs. Coleman, his 3rd grade teacher at MacArthur Elementary, for helping him with his transition from Owego to Binghamton schools.

She [Anna Giarrizzo] is always there for me! She really does it all! She has fun, she is on top of all her stuff! Love her sm!

[Crysta Birn] she’s my momma and has supported me through everything no matter what

Mr. B has been my mentor since middle school. Always been a person I can talk to whenever I have a lot on my mind. He is a person that gives me hope.

Toni Dougherty is the director of the Binghamton JCC Early Childhood Center, and she was an amazing support to myself and the children I cared for when I worked there, and I know she continues to be a massive support to the whole ECC community. She was especially helpful in supporting staff who worked with children with disabilities or had disabilities themselves, and I always saw her giving endless effort into giving any children she ever came across an amazing opportunity for early growth, regardless of their circumstances.

I would like to nominate Liz as an Everyday Hero. Liz is my work ride-or-die and my go-to for everything! She is uber intelligent, kind, thoughtful, and an amazing listener. One of the hardest workers I know, Liz has her hand in a bit of it all—and she is simply awesome.

My mom is my hero, she's a teacher who works so far beyond the regular hours of a teacher, arriving early and staying late and she's always available to her students, yet she is also always there for her family. I don't know how she does it all, but she does!

My mother [Sheila Weissman] has helped through so much! When I studied abroad in Israel and the war broke out she guided me through the hard times and always game me a caring, loving and supportive ear. It has not been an easy transition from studying abroad in Israel, Greece, New York and New Jersey, to finally finding my place here at Binghamton University. It has been a hard transition and to this day she continues to guide and support me. I’m forever grateful for your love and support , I love you mom ❤️

My grandma is someone who always inspires me. She worked most of her lives to support my mom and dad in America. She is truly someone who is strong and inspires me to push through all barriers. She also taught me that anything is possible and work hard for everything.

Gylie has been my hero since my childhood, for raising me in such a guiding and gentle way. Not only did I always feel safe with her, I could always rely on her and learn from her in my formative years.

Nema Sayeed helped me transition into MSA at BU by driving to the mosque and gifting me an abaya.

A Hero is someone that doesn’t always wear capes, it’s someone that is there for you no matter what and would do anything for you even if means risking themselves. That is what this person means to mean, a lot of people can be a mother, but it’s hard to be a MOM! I love you mom!

My mom (Joey Zhong) has shown me time and time again how to be a strong woman, how to be maintain relationships and not back down in the face of adversity, she has always been able to quell my worries night after night and I would not be who I am today without her.

My grandma is my hero. She has always been positive. Throughout my life, i have struggled and she has always been positive. Has told me to follow my dreams. Even through her struggles she has always had a positive outlook on life and even before passing she was grateful and happy about the way she lived her life.

My mom (Debra) is a hero because she’s so kind and she's always lifting others up! Love u❤️

Quentin lives community service and advocacy. He is a wonderful mentor for the children of our community.

This person [Juana] is my mom she is my hero she works so hard and push though everything for me and my sister.

My dad (Adhilah Moulana) was usually away from work and it was often in very isolating and lonely situations. He worked very hard to make sure me and my siblings were able to live comfortably. Along with that, whenever he was home he would spend so much time with us and make sure he was always around. He took up responsibilities to help my mom out and did his best to make up for the lost time.

Julie Ticehurst. She is always there for me and is ready to talk when ever I need it.

My mom (Adhilah Moulana) worked really hard to raise me and my 3 siblings. My dad was away for work a lot so she was usually raising us alone. That being said she was always very attentive, she would take me for football(soccer) practices, take me to cricket practice, wake up early for breakfast and moved to different places to make sure we had the best education we had. She sacrificed a lot in her life for us and that's why she's my hero.

"I would like to nominate Anita Mahar as my hero. I have known Anita for over 20 years as a classmate, best friend, clinician, and partner in building business. This woman who has had extreme adversities and yet thrived as a clinician, mom and still has time to connect with others. She not only approaches situations with positive through processes and grace, but firm. She is kind in every aspect of the word. Being around Anita, you are automatically in a better space mentally and physically. She is a light that everyone needs in their life. Anita is beyond a hero. She is a staple that others should look up to."

Through my whole wrestling career my dad made many sacrifices and put tons of time into ensures I could get the best practices and opportunities

He [Mark] is the best boss and landlord he is very understanding and caring and is willing to help anyone in need.

Theo made a huge impact on me, loves to travel. Inspiring. And someone who is determined and a fighter never letting anyone down. Always caring about others.

Dolores is a Spanish translator at UE middle school. She has helped the Spanish community in a time of unknowns and offers her help to parents and students. She dedicates her extra time to helping those in need. She came here with the mindset of becoming a homeowner while being a single mother. After 2 years of saving up and living with us she was able to afford a home of her home. She supports her son and herself with a little dog and always has a smile on her face while she is determined to change the the community one student at a time. I nominate Dolores because she exemplifies a community leader. Spanish ambassador and a great human being. We need more role models like her in our community!

Michele is my sister who will help me out when I need it, which is often!

She [Pamela] is helping raising me because my mom is in the hospital!

My dad [Mesha] has always been there for me and my daughter. He’s the best person I know.

Ali has shown me that no matter what happens you have to keep going. She is an example that nothing can stop you if you put effort in and try.

In spite of having no kids of his own, Steve has volunteered to mentor at risk teens. He has also mentored those being released from prison as they have worked to reintegrate into the work place. As a retired IBMer, he has vast engineering and industry skills to share with young men and women.

I would like to nominate Sean Anderson as an Everyday Hero. Sean is a fellow Director who is thoughtful, caring, and an incredible role model for his students and community. As the author of Alphabet City Blues and Dads: Dads Supporting Dads, he continues to inspire through both his work and his words. Sean is an all-around inspiring human, and I’m grateful to know him.

He [Elijah] is super kind, helps me a lot, and makes me laugh.
